Our flight is at 6.30 evening which means we will arrive in at Gatwick in the early hours of Thursday morning. We have had a great holiday but we are ready to come home as the after effects of hurricane Katrina have hit Quebec and it is rainy this morning. Thursday in the UK sounds good!!!!
I forgot to mention what a great time we had at the baseball game. We all got into the singing, chanting and cheering (especially Jaimie!). The Blue Jay's did not win and after 3 hours I finally figured out the rules. We are right in the centre of Ottawa at the moment, about 2 minutes away from the Parliament Bulidings. As we speak the "Gay Pride" march is passing the hotel and there is a fantastic atmosphere.
We have now arrived back in Ottawa having spent a great week in Toronto. We spent two days at Wonderland which is Paramount’s version of Disney. There were some fantastic roller coasters and a great water park. We are stayinh here at the Lord Elgin Hotel (a bit posh) for two nights and then will head back to Quebec.
Got my new camera today hooray!!! I could have got one earlier but I became really fussy about what I wanted. Just chilling about today because we are exhausted. Off to Wonderland Canada's big theme and water park tomorrow.
We did the tourist thing today. We went up the CN Tower and looked around the city. We had fun on the glass floor and the highlight of the day was getting tickets for the ball game on Friday. We are going to see the Toronto Blue-Jays v Cleveland Indians. We went to a fantastic restaurant last night called “Frankie’s Tamatto” it is the most amazing all you can eat buffet you have ever seen. It is set out like a market and at each different stall you can get different types of food. I think Jaimie may have eaten a little too much last night as she has had tummy ache all day… oops. I’m sure she will be back on form later.
Arrived in Toronto and we are staying here for a week. We will explore the city, go the Wonderland theme park, shopping outlets and hopefully and baseball game. We will try to visit "Frankies Tomato" a fantastic restaurant we found last time we came which was about 7 years ago.
Have arrived in Ottawa. Family decision was to drive for one day instead of two. We are staying at some lovely Residance in the city centre and then will make our journey to Toronto. We are having a smashing holiday full of laughs and jokes.
We spent today at the beach. A very quiet beach, in the Bay of Fundy. It was not at all busy and the sea was very calm. The weather is good. We are thinking of spending tomorrow morning cycling around the Bay of Fundy. We will leave here on Thursday and start to make our way towards Toronto. I have no idea if we will have the Internet up there.
the sun shone so we did not bother with the cinema we went to the nature park
Irving Nature Parkand then by popular request went back to the lake we were at yesterday. We have just arrived back at the hotel and Carly is off to the gym and Jaimie and Joelle have gone swimming. I am content with a good book and ipod and so is Lolps.
We spent yesterday in a wonderful country park called Rockwood Park. There was a lovely lake that you could swim in. The hotel is attatched to the museum of New Brunswick and the town of Saint John is meant to be one of the oldest in Canada. The weather is a bit misty today so we may hit the shops and see what is on at the cinema.
Well hi all, here we are in Saint John , Canada. We spent 3 days in Quebec and arrived here today. We are having fun and seem to be eating and sleeping a lot!
Will update when I can.
Just wanted to share with you a part of the letter the GB team received from their coach.
I just wanted to say that I had the most amazing Maccabiah experience in Israel and that was mainly down to you! I was really impressed with your commitment to training, in the way you played in all matches and in the way that you improved throughout the games. Aside from the play, you were a great laugh to be around and I really enjoyed your company. I also wanted to mention that several of the other team managers commented on what a great bunch of girls you were and that you were a credit to Maccabi GB!
Ok, she came home about midnight! Now she has taken Joelle and gone out on a "road trip" ahhhhh my nerves can't take this! Why are dad's so much more laid back? My theory is a bit of the umbilical chord is left dormant in both of us!
Well done to Carly who passed her driving test earlier this evening. She is a lovely driver and she deserved to pass. How does that make me feel? Well, as I watched her drive off up the road by herself tonight I thought that maybe I could tear up the motherly contract so I would not have to worry. My lawyer informed me to my dismay there is no get out clause! So worry I will until she arrives home later!
Carly's Car
All is calm here. The house is tidy. I have time on my hands, "The Lolps" is cooking dinner and Joelle has her friend here. Carly and Jaimie return from camp tomorrow (they are the messy ones!) with Jaimie's friend Jenny. I look forward to smelly damp suitcases and tired, grumpy children!!!! I have missed them loads though.
Jo and I had a lovely girly day out in London today. We got half price tickets for Joseph, lunch in Covent Garden, a posh wee in the Opera House and then onto the theatre for a magnificent show.
I spent a lovely day at JLGB Camp in East Mersea yesterday. Carly and Jaimie are having a fantastic time. I only heard good reports about Jaimie. I am so pleased. It was lovley to see everyone having so much fun and great to see old friends from my JLGB days.
I feel like a new person today. Have hidden all signs of academia away. Cleared and cleaned my desk (this was symbolic as it was piled high with research before) and am about to post the pulsating large jiffy bag off to my tutor. If I keep it here any longer I will open it and change things............. oh well thats that... I won't know the result until October /November so fingers crossed!
