Totally Obsessed

I have become totally obsessed with watching every episode of "Sex and the City". I have now passed this obsession on to mum! It can have you sitting in front of the television until 3.00am. Now I find myself remembering and using quotes!

ďAfter all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breath and reboot.Ē

(Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, My Motherboard, Myself − Season 4)

(If anyone I know has season 1 or 2 let me know. − Thanks!

Rugby and School Victory

What a wonderful day! We took some of our year 5 and 6 children to Redbridge Sports Centre to participate in the Redbridge Mini Games. There were a variety of different sports to participate in but as we are only a small school, and each player is only allowed to participate in one event, we were limited to entering teams in tag rugby, hockey and indoor athletics.

I obviously went off with the tag team, a squad of 10 players. You have to have a minimum of 3 boys and 3 girls on the pitch at any time. There were 24 teams in 4 different groups. We managed to draw one match and from then on went on to win each match. We played Coppice School in the semi-final and for the first time in our tag playing days reached the final where we beat Churchfields (my old primary school).

All of the players received a medal and the school received a shield.

Well done team. This now means that we are representing the Borough of Redbridge at the London Heathrow Mini Games at Crystal Palace on July 6th.

To round up the day we found out that we had won the ďsmall schools trophyĒ. So we may need a new trophy cabinet in the school hall.!

Tom Cruise

What a lot of "hype" there has been about Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their Scientology beliefs around the birth of their daughter. First of all, if Scientology is their religion, why could they not have chosen a "Scientology" name and not taken the name Suri (Hebrew for Princess) from the Jewish religion?

Tom said that he was thinking about eating the placenta after the birth!

ďIím gonna eat the placenta, too. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. Iím going to eat the cord and the placenta right there.Ē But when a GQ magazine interviewer said it would be a big meal, Cruise replied: ďOK, maybe I wonít.Ē

If you change you mind Tom, this looks like a good idea!

A Passover service for the impatient.

I loved this e-mail that a friend sent me. It just about sums up what we do every year!

The Two-Minute Haggadah

Opening prayers:
Thanks, G-d, for creating wine. (Drink wine.)
Thanks for creating produce. (Eat parsley.)
Overview: Once we were slaves in Egypt. Now we're free. That's why we're doing this.
Four questions:
1. What's up with the matzoh?
2. What's the deal with horseradish?
3. What's with the dipping of the herbs?
4. What's this whole slouching at the table business?
1. When we left Egypt, we were in a hurry. There was no time for making decent bread.
2. Life was bitter, like horseradish.
3. It's called symbolism.
4. Free people get to slouch.

A funny story: Once, these five rabbis talked all night, then it was morning. (Heat soup now.)
The four kinds of children and how to deal with them:
Wise child-explain Passover.
Simple child-explain Passover slowly.
Silent child-explain Passover loudly.
Wicked child-browbeat in front of the relatives.
Speaking of children: We hid some matzoh. Whoever finds it gets five bucks.
The story of Passover: It's a long time ago. We're slaves in Egypt. Pharaoh is a nightmare. We cry out for help. G-d brings plagues upon the Egyptians. We escape, bake some matzoh. G-d parts the Red Sea. We make it through; the Egyptians aren't so lucky. We wander 40 years in the desert, eat manna, get the Torah, wind up in Israel, get a new temple, enjoy several years without being persecuted again. (Let brisket cool now.)
The 10 Plagues: Blood, Frogs, Lice-you name it.
The singing of "Dayenu":
If G-d had gotten us out of Egypt and not punished our enemies, it would've been enough. If he'd punished our enemies and not parted the Red Sea, if would've been enough.
If he'd parted the Red Sea-(Remove gefilte fish from refrigerator now.)
Eat matzoh. Drink more wine. Slouch.
Thanks again, G-d, for everything.

Visit to Scotland

Jaimie and I flew up to Glasgow yesterday. Jaimie is spending time with her JLGB friends Jenny and Lucy whilst I spend time with my old friend Jo. Today Jo and I took "MJ" their border collie up to Loch Lomond for a walk. The weather was delightful and we had a scenic drive, healthy walk and tea in a little tea shop.

ZoŽís Batty Weekend

We have had the most wonderful weekend celebrating ZoŽís batmizvah. ZoŽ is the daughter of our dear friends Howard and Karen.
