All going well... English is a second language for a lot of the children so following instructions has not been easy... we will not move on until routines have been truly cracked.
A weird week in all... I spent Tuesday morning at Whipps Cross with a member of staff who guillotined the top of her finger off!!! yuk!
Carly took a tumble on the netball court, missed out on a place on the team and ended up at "Jimmy's" hospital with torn ligaments in her ankle! No sport for 6 weeks. A big thank you to her flat mate Josh for taking her to hospital and staying with her and to Darren who is looking after her in Nottingham this weekend.
In the last year the home corner has been a few different things. The children get excited by a new theme and are keen to bring in items from home. In Foundation 2 this term, our topic is Traditional Stories, so the home corner has been themed as a castle. Here is the finsihed product.

Well, my baby has flown the nest. Laurence and I took Carly up to Leeds today. How can she possibly be going to uni? She is only 12!
A day filled with emotion and the challenge of a new beginning.
She is staying in a very pretty part of town in apartments called Kirkstall Brewery. (A converted brewery).

Carly's appartment is on the top floor on the far right hand side called "Warehouse"
Her flat is lovely, pretty big with an en-suite bathroom.

She seemed happy enough when we left her and I was very controlled and happy for her. I did however, dissolve into tears on the journey home! I felt like I had abandoned her in a strange place.
I have spoken to her and she said all the people in the flat are lovely and she was decorating her room with her photographs. I actually feel like I have just taken her on holiday and she will be back in a couple of weeks.
Second week in.......We found our pencils and wrote about our weekend...some copied and some had it scribed for them! We drew pictures of our families and............still no wet pants!
After coming home recently from Boston and supporting the Red Sox, I found this quite amusing!
Well, I have survived two days with the little darlings and dare I say it... not a wet pair of pants yet! (and that's just the staff)!
The class has changed it's name to Foundation 2 and I am finding it hard not to say "Transition" before every sentence!
It is hard work and all we have been doing is playing with activites! I suppose that shows how far the last class had come on. I think, if we continue learning general routines this week, we will be able to move on to finding our pencils next week!
Thanks Dad! This cracked me up!
